In closing arguments Tuesday, the lawyer for the woman who claims she’s the Mom of the ‘Ikea monkey’ argued that laws about wild animals don’t apply in her case because little Darwin was domesticated.
The lawyer also says the law that should apply in the case is a Toronto by-law. A supervisor from city animal services has testified he had no power to detain the monkey once its owner came to claim it. Yasmin Nakhuda, is suing Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland in attempt to get Darwin the monkey back. Darwin has been held since he was found wandering about in an Ikea parking lot in Toronto.
