One of the bridges over the Welland Canal in Port Colborne is still closed to all traffic after a cargo ship hit the Clarence Street Bridge on Thursday.

The impact scraped the side of the ship, but no one was injured.

Detailed assessments have been underway to ensure the structural integrity of the bridge, also known as ‘Bridge 21’.

The City of Port Colborne says the bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
