The City of Hamilton is reminding homeowners to check to see if they have lead water pipes on their property.

Any maintenance, repair or replacement of a water pipe on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.
The city has posted a video on its website that takes homeowners through the steps of what to do in the event you have lead water piping in your home.
The city started a corrosion control program in November of 2018, to help protect residents from lead exposure from lead pipes, lead based fixtures and lead solder.
City staff also provide tips and advice for people who do have lead service pipes and how to properly continue using the water, including for bathing, showering or brushing teeth.
