Car plunges into the Credit River

An horrific scene played out at the mouth of the Credit River in Mississauga this afternoon.

Around 4pm, a grey Hyundai rolled down a ramp and into the water.  Nearby witnesses stripped off their clothes and jumped in.

An air ambulance arrived on scene, along with the police police marine unit and a tow truck. After about an hour, they pulled the vehicle out of the water.

The lone occupant, an unidentified woman was removed with no vital signs and has since died in hospital.
