Call centre expansion creates 200 jobs

The call centre industry in Niagara is creating hundreds of additional new jobs in an area hurt by the loss of manufacturing jobs.

Call centres in St Catharines and Welland operated by Canadian Tire Financial Services are expected to hire at least 200 people this summer in both full-time and part-time positions. That’s in addition to more than 200 jobs created at those centres last year.

With the new hires, Canadian Tire will employ about a thousand people at the centres. The new positions will pay an average of $20 an hour, plus bonuses and benefits.
