Calgary police have charged a Hamilton man in a historical sexual assault investigation dating to 2015.

Police say that at the time of the incident, the victim and the accused were in a relationship.

In August 2025, the victim came forward to report the assault, prompting the investigation.

Bryan James Hayward, 37, was charged with sexual assault and choking with intent.

Hayward is currently in custody in Hamilton.

He already faces 60 charges in connection with crimes committed against more than 12 women.
