The City of Burlington announced that it is making a pitch to become this year’s Kraft Hockeyville.
The city is asking people to share their stories about the Central Arena, which is part of the Central Recreation Centre.
The pitch says it has been “more than just a rink — it’s been the beating heart of Burlington’s sporting and recreational spirit.”
Since its construction in 1968, the arena has seen legends-in-the-making like a nine-year-old Wayne Gretzky skate on its ice.
The facility has also hosted musical acts like the Ramones and Gordon Lightfoot.
If the complex gets the nod, it will host an NHL pre-season game and receive $250,000 to be used towards repairs or upgrades.
Residents are being asked to share photos, videos and stories at KraftHockeyville.ca.
