Brock receives Zika virus for testing
The Zika virus has arrived in this region, but it’s not a cause for concern.
Fiona Hunter, a scientist at Brock University, has received containers of the virus from Health Canada so that the renowned entomologist can head the research on whether Canadian mosquitos are able to become infected and can transmit the Zika virus.
Brock is the only university in Canada with a CL3 containment lab that includes an insectiary, which safely allows for this type of research to take place.
Hunter will be talking to the media about her research tomorrow morning and CHCH News will be there.
