Congratulations to students at Hamilton’s St Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary, for taking part in the school’s Terry Fox Run.

Over 600 students took part in the 5 kilometer walk and run to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation. In just under a decade the school has raised over $70,000 for cancer research.

Principal Mark Daly says the fun had at the event is only matched by the importance of the cause.

“We’ll we got good staff and it’s just become a great tradition, the kids enjoy the day, we get hamburgers and hotdogs and make a day out of it. It becomes a big event, we know just about every family in our society is touched by cancer in some way so I think the kids know how important the cause is.”

“It’s a fun day, and you know it’s just a great tradition here at Brebeuf.”

Daly says if the students reach today’s goal of $8,000 he’ll do the ice bucket challenge. The school will present the Terry Fox Foundation with a cheque during an assembly in the coming weeks.
