A Brampton man is facing drug trafficking charges after fleeing from an attempted traffic stop in Niagara Falls.

On April 13, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle on Valley Way. Authorities say the car failed to stop and fled the scene.

Investigators later located and arrested the driver after a short foot pursuit. It was determined the man driving was not legally allowed to operate a motor vehicle. As a result, his vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 12.9 grams of suspected cocaine (street value of $1,548) and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Authorities arrested 33-year-old Jevone Brown who is now facing the following charges:

  • Flight from Police Officer
  • Operation While Prohibited (five counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
  • Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
