Brampton man charged following violent home invasion in Grimsby

Niagara police arrested and charged a Brampton man Thursday after a violent home invasion last month in the Town of Grimsby.

Officers say at around 3:30 a.m. on May 1, they responded to reports of a robbery at the home and discovered that the suspects had fled the area before they arrived.

They say the victim in the robbery was assaulted and received minor injuries.

Following an investigation, detectives identified and arrested 23-year-old Jahsyah Thomas Thursday, with the help of Peel Regional Police.

Officers charged Thomas with offences including breaking and entering, assault with a weapon and for robbery with a firearm.

Thomas remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Thursday.
