Boston bombings suspects’ mother speaks

In a rare interview with the BBC, the mother of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects says she’s convinced her sons are innocent.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva said she plans to go to the U.S. In two weeks for her son Dzhokar’s first court appearance. His older brother Tamerlan was killed during a police shoot-out following the attacks.

In previous interviews she expressed anger towards the U.S., but in this interview she struck a conciliatory note.

“I cannot ever say that Americans are bad. And if I expressed something like that I want Americans to forgive me for saying that. Those people are supporting me. I get lots of support from Americans.”

She also denied that her son, Tamerlan, was radicalized during his time in Dagestan last year.
