Border restrictions begin to ease for fully vaccinated Canadian travellers

Canada is starting to loosen some travel restrictions for fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents.

Beginning Monday, residents who have had a full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine will be able to skip the 14-day quarantine as they return to this country.

To be considered fully vaccinated, you must be eligible to enter Canada, have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of accepted vaccines (Phizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, Johnson & Johnson), received your last dose at least 14 days prior to the day you enter Canada, and have uploaded your proof of vaccination and results of a negative COVID-19 test that is less than three days old in the ArriveCAN app.

Canada Border Services Agency warns would-be travellers still may be denied entry if they were not eligible to travel to Canada before Monday.

Residents were previously under rigid travel restrictions which included testing, quarantine and a hotel stopover for travellers arriving by air.
