A border guard is fighting to get her job back, after being fired for her handling of a famous musician. Joanne Brown lost her job last summer amid allegations that she gave preferential treatment to a well known act at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie.
Her scheduled public hearing didn’t get to start today because the two sides were in mediation for much of the day.
CHCH News was told that Ms. Brown was fired because she allegedly allowed the well known country act into the country despite finding drugs on a tour bus and that she accepted concert tickets to do so, it should be noted that information has not been confirmed by the CBSA.
Brown attended the meeting today with her lawyer Brad Troup but they would not give comment. The public service labour relations and employment board however confirmed she is grieving the fact that she was fired, along with her indefinite suspension without pay and having her security clearance lowered.
The next meeting will be on Thursday.
