The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay is happening in Hamilton today.

The Queen’s Baton will be at McMaster University this morning ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The special event will happen from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. outside of University Hall.

The baton symbolizes collaboration of art, technology and science across all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

The route covers 140,000 km and involves more than 7,000 baton bearers.

The relay is meant to connect communities and cultures ahead of the Commonwealth Games, which Hamilton is hoping to host in 2030.
