Average rents across Canada drops to $2,100 says reports

According to reports by Rentals.ca and Urbanation, average rents across the country dropped to $2,100 per month.

Both websites say rent rates dropped by 3.2 per cent since the end of 2023, marking a 17-month low.

Hamilton rents fell 5.6 per cent year-over-year to $1,700 for a one bedroom apartment.

A one bedroom in Burlington is just under $2,200, down by nearly one per cent.

Despite these rate drops rents across Canada are 16.8 per cent higher than they were five years ago.

Rent in Niagara Falls has increased 10 per cent year-over-year with St. Catharines and Brantford also seeing rental hikes.
