Autopsy done on Canadian in Hong Kong

A preliminary autopsy suggests a Canadian man found dead in Hong Kong may have died from an overdose.

The body of 25 year old Joseph Basha of St. Johns, Newfoundland was discovered in the city last Wednesday.

Hong Kong police initially suggested the death wasn’t suspicious, but his mother says police have now launched a criminal investigation into her son’s death.

Reports say officials are still awaiting the results of a toxicology report.

Basha had lived in Hong Kong since 2008 and was studying international and public affairs at the University of Hong Kong.
