A twenty-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old boy. As we first reported on the Evening News last night the boy’s body was found in a Mississauga Park.

Police made the arrest last night at his girlfriend’s home in Mississauga, but what led them to him is still unclear.

Late this afternoon police released this photo of 20-year-old Mark Mahabir and a warrant for his arrest. He is the brother of Nicholas Mahabir.

The body of a 14-year-old boy was found early yesterday morning on a pathway near Meadow Park on Truscott Drive near the QEW and Southdown road.

Police would not confirm the boy’s name but, the lawyer for his alleged killer, did.

The park where Martin was found is behind an elementary school in the Clarkson neighbourhood.

Forensic investigators were still on the scene today.

Peel Police Constable Iryna Yashnyk told media there is no threat to the neighbourhood but wouldn’t provide further detail on the degree of trauma the boy suffered.

Marcus Bornfreund says Mahabir appeared for a bail hearing today saying he has little detail about the case so far.

Bornfreund described Mahabir’s demeanor in court.

Police would not speak to motive or if Martin and Mahabir knew each other.

They would also not confirm if Mahabir is known to police.

They are asking any witnesses to come forward and looking for additional video surveillance.

Nicholas Mahabir will appear in court Wednesday by video.
