Peel police say the body of a 14-year-old boy was found near a Mississauga park Friday morning.

Officers were called to the area of Truscott Dr. and Southdown Rd. just before 8 a.m.

Police have not said how the boy was discovered. His name and cause of death have also not been released.

Homicide detectives and members of the Missing Persons Bureau are currently investigating.

Clarkson Secondary School has released a statement saying they are aware of the police investigation in the community, but did not say if the teen went to the school. The school says counseling will be available to students and staff at the school tomorrow.

Correction: Police had initially said the boy was 13 years old but later said he was in fact 14.
