Arrest in Hamilton school abduction attempt

Hamilton Police have arrested a man in connection to the attempted abduction of an Earl Kitchener Public School student last week.

The incident happened last Thursday at the school on Dundurn St S. Police say the man, who wasn’t known to the boy, took the kindergarten student from the fenced playground.

Someone in the area heard the child crying and intervened, and the man took off.

Police say they arrested Dakota Hart, 47, of Hamilton on another matter under the mental health act, and he is now in a secure facility. When he is released, Hart will be charged with kidnapping, assault with a weapon and breaching probation.
