A St. Catharines woman has been reunited with her cat, Angel after it escaped from her backyard 2 and a half years ago.
Onwer, Lesley Seaborne is making up for lost time with her 12 and a half year old tabby, Angel after she disappeared from her St.. Catharines home in August 2013.
Seaborne got the cat after her brother was murdered in 2005 to help fill a void in her life.
And while she didn’t give up hope that her cat was alive, she didn’t expect to get a call from the local humane society saying they had her.
Angel was picked up just a kilometre away from her home by someone who thought she was a stray and never thought to have her scanned for a microchip.
This past weekend, Angel was brought into the local Human Society as her new owner was moving into a retirement home.
After being scanned a search in the shelter’s database traced the cat’s original owner back to Seaborne.
Getting your cat or dog microchipped costs less than a $100.
Things are a little different at home since Angel last left. Seaborne has since adopted 2 kittens.
Seaborne is encouraging anyone who finds a cat to call the Human Society or a Veternarian to get it scanned.
Seaborne says she doesn’t hold any animosity to the man who took Angel in, she’s even hoping to share photos and updates on the feline they’ve both grown to love.
