The Jonas Brothers played at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum last night on their Jonas 20 tour and a Hamilton woman in the crowd found herself in the spotlight.
“When they saw the sign I was like ‘oh they’re going to come talk to me and they’re going to hand me a mic.’ So they ended up handing me a mic and the conversation was like a minute long which was absolutely insane. They’re just the best band in the world so it was really nice to chat with them,” says Kate Grightmire.
“Everyone has been so sweet. The fact that Joe said ‘oh yeah, I might follow you because of this painting,’ that was actually unreal. It definitely has changed things for me as an artist because it’s giving me the confidence and validation that I can actually do this online.”
Grightmire says Joe has not followed her yet but she hopes that changes.
She says people came up to her after the show and have been messaging her.

“I’m just so grateful that this is happening. It definitely feels like it’s not real.”
It all started when the band noticed her painting in the crowd, according to Grightmire.
It was a representation of Nick Jonas and his new single and album “Gut Punch” and for Grightmire a thrill of a lifetime.
The song she chose was “Sorry” because that song has a lot of personal meaning for her.
Grightmire posted a video of her creating the painting to her Instagram where she posts her other artwork. She is a full-time graphic designer and she enjoys doing personal art on the side.
