The next phase of the re-development of Hamilton’s Lime Ridge Mall began with demolition on Monday.
Work is now underway to take down what used to be the old Active Green and Ross automotive centre. It was beside the former Sears store.
A spokesperson with Lime Ridge Mall confirmed work is being done to make room for a new Walmart Supercentre that is expected to open in early 2027.
The construction is part of Walmart’s $6.5 billion investment in the country over the next five years, which was announced earlier this year.
The Upper Wentworth Street mall changed ownership in June to Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).
