Tiki boat tours at Bayfront? Hamilton considering new waterfront tourism attractions

As part of an ongoing effort to rejuvenate Hamilton’s waterfront, the city’s west harbour subcommittee will be considering options for new on-water tourist attractions today.

A city staff report being presented this morning details various proposals for tourism activities around Bayfront Park and Pier 8. Some of the ideas include a floating tiki-themed boat tour, a floating hot tub and sauna, and canoe or kayak rentals.

The goal, according to the city, is to launch these activities by next spring or summer.

Hamilton’s tourism and culture team says this aligns with the city’s four-year tourism strategy that launched in 2024.

Friday’s meeting comes just over a month after city granted a pause to the builder of Waterfront Shores at Pier 8. Right now, the lot sits empty as developers wait for the housing market to heat up.
