$300K damage in overnight fire

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is investigating an early morning fire on Main St W in Hamilton that forced residents to evacuate their homes.

It broke out around 3 o’clock this morning at the Rotana Resto-bar and forced residents living in several second floor apartments to evacuate.

Luckily, nobody was hurt and the owner of the building has organized a place for them to stay.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the first floor. Damage is estimated at $300,000. The cause is still being determined.
