2 charged, 1 wanted for setting St. Catharines woman on fire in her sleep

Two people have been arrested and a woman is wanted for lighting a woman on fire during her sleep in St. Catharines last weekend.

It happened around 11 p.m. Saturday at an apartment in the area of Vine and Scott streets.

Niagara police say three people allegedly broke into the woman’s apartment unit and set her on fire while she was asleep.

Paramedics rushed her to hospital with serious burn injuries to her face and upper body.

Investigators say the victim and suspects are known to each other.

On Monday, officers arrested and charged 25-year-old Chassidy Archer of St. Catharines with attempted murder and break enter and commit an indictable offence.

Moises Medeiros, 30, of St. Catharines was also arrested and charged with attempted murder, carrying a concealed weapon, break enter and commit an indictable offence, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Archer and Medeiros were scheduled to attend a bail hearing Tuesday in St. Catharines.

Rebecca Daigneault, 37, of St. Catharines, is wanted for attempted murder, break enter and commit an indictable offence, and failing to comply with a probation order.
