Niagara police arrest Welland man for alleged Steve Bauer Trail sexual assault

Niagara police have arrested a Welland man for an alleged sexual assault that happened on the Steve Bauer Trail in Welland on Monday.

Investigators say they responded to a reported sexual assault on the trail at around 5:15 p.m. in the area of Woodlawn Road and Clare Avenue.

Police determined early in the investigation that a woman was walking on the trail when an interaction occurred between her and a man walking with his dog.

Officers determined that the woman was assaulted and the man had exposed himself.

As a result, Niagara police have arrested and charged 28-year-old Nathan Jolin of Welland with sexual assault and an indecent act.

Jolin has been held in custody before his bail hearing on Tuesday.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Sexual Assault Unit.
