15-year-old suspect charged in Stoney Creek double homicide

A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the murder of two teenagers on the Stoney Creek Mountain.

Hamilton police say the suspect turned himself in Sunday evening.

Officers say a 34-year-old woman has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and obstructing police.

Last Wednesday at around 2:25 a.m., officers say they responded to reports of gunshots at Tabby Town Co-op Housing at 191 Candlewood Dr., near Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway.

Police arrived at the scene and found the two boys suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to hospital, where they died due to their injuries.

Detectives have since identified the two victims as 18-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli and 16-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli from Hamilton.

The 15-year-old suspect has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and four counts of attempted murder with a firearm.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Investigators have also revealed that only one firearm was discharged during the incident. They say a second gun used during the exchange was an imitation firearm.
