UPDATE: Hamilton police arrest 15-year-old suspect wanted in Stoney Creek double homicide

Hamilton said late Sunday August 2nd they have now arrested a 15-year-old male who is wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two teenagers on Stoney Creek Mountain earlier this week.

Officers say at around 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, they responded to reports of gunshots at Tabby Town Co-op Housing at 191 Candlewood Dr., near Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway.

Investigators arrived at the scene and found 18-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli and 16-year-old Afef Binafif suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to hospital, where they died from their injuries.

As part of the investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for a teenager wanted for two counts of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder using a firearm.

On July 31, Hamilton police have received judicial authorization under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to temporarily publish his name and photograph, for the purpose of locating and arresting him. Now that he has been arrested, this story has been updated to remove his name and image.
