10-year-old girl struck by school bus in Oakville

A young girl from Oakville remains in serious condition after she was hit by a school bus early Monday morning at the intersection of Elm road and Sixth line just south of Upper Middle road. The ten year old girl was on her bike headed for Sunningdale public school before nine o’clock when she was hit by the bus.

The 54-year-old man who was driving this bus, was making a left turn out of a commercial plaza onto Sixth line, when he struck the young school girl. It is unclear whether or not she was on the sidewalk or on the road. The girl was rushed to McMaster Children’s hospital in serious condition.

Police blocked off about a hundred meters of the road at Elm and Sixth line to the edge of the plaza for several hours while the collision reconstruction unit and the commercial motor vehicle unit worked to determine what exactly happened.
