The Liberals will be introducing their Fair Minimum Wage Act later today. Labour minister Yasir Naqvi says the NDP was nowhere to be seen when his party set up an advisory panel.
“They consulted Ontarians across this wide province, they had about 400 submissions. Speaker, how many submissions did the NDP make to the panel? Zero! How many questions have the NDP asked on the topic of minimum wage in this house? Zero! His leader spoke in the byelection about minimum wage – zero. Their position is too little, too late.”
If passed, the bill would tie future increases in the minimum wage to the rate of inflation.
Earlier today NDP leader Andrea Horwath announced her counter-proposal.
