The trial of Hamilton Police Sergeant Derek Mellor, which was supposed to start today, has now been put over until February 24th.

Mellor was the first officer assigned solely to human trafficking; he’s now facing 11 charges of misconduct for allegedly having sexual relationships with two witnesses. He’s also accused of sending sexual pictures and videos to them, and to women employed in the victim services agency.

This morning Mellor was also charged with two counts of insubordination, for failing to submit court briefs in relation to two different arrests.

Another officer also heard discreditable conduct charges that were put over until February 24th. Constable Thomas McKay is accused of having sex with a prostitute while off-duty, and of falsely telling an officer that a person was a police informant.
