As the Syrian crisis continues, both the federal and provincial governments have made additional funding announcements to help refugees. The Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre is an organization that helps those families once they come to Canada.
Seven months ago, Touma Youkhanna came to Canada with his wife and 3 children. He was able to settle here with help from his brother and the Niagara organization.
Najat Aazar has been here since 2014. Originally from Iraq, she was living in Syria when she fled. It took five years to get refugee status. Her sister and father are also living in Canada, but her mother is still in Iraq.
