A teenager has been charged after police say a group of friends took a joyride in a car that belonged to a relative.
Hamilton police were called shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning for reports of a car that had slammed into a building at the Centre Mall in the area of Barton Street East and Ottawa Street North.
When police arrived they found the car had crashed into the corner of the Canadian Tire building.
“There was minor damage to the building,” said Hamilton Police Staff Sgt. Jackson. “There was excessive damage to the car.”
Jackson said six teens were in the car, four were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested and charged one teen with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
The teen is expected to appear in court December 4.
None of the teens can be identified because they are underage 18.
