A woman’s belly makes lots of changes during pregnancy–both inside and out.
A new study out of Cornell University finds the gut bacteria of pregnant women changes in a way that would make them obese or diabetic if they were *not* pregnant.
However, researchers found this is a programmed change by the body to ensure women have enough fat stored to support the fetus and it is completely healthy during pregnancy.
The researchers studied the gut bacteria of nearly one hundred pregnant women for the study.
The changes they noticed are typically associated with metabolic disease and weight gain
