A combination of drugs known as a “smart bomb” is offering new hope in the fight against breast cancer.

A three-year clinical trial found an experimental drug called “TMD 1”, a combination of the cancer drug Herceptin and a chemotherapy drug, slowed the progression of certain advanced breast cancers better than traditional treatment.

It also suggests the drug may improve a patient’s chance of survival.

Researchers say this is huge in terms of slowing down an aggressive form of breast cancer.

Right now, only women participating in the clinical trial have access to the drug.
