Man robbed, sprayed with irritant substance at ATM in Hamilton

Hamilton police are investigating after a man was robbed and sprayed with an irritant substance while he was taking out cash at an ATM.

Officers were called to the TD Canada Trust at 194 James St. South around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police he had been robbed by a group of people and sprayed with an unknown substance.

The suspects stole money from the victim’s wallet before leaving the area.

The man was taken to hospital for examination after complaining his eyes were burning.

Police have not yet released suspect descriptions but say there may be four suspects involved in the robbery.

Hamilton Police are actively looking in the area for video surveillance to assist with the investigation.
