Driver crashes vehicle into ditch following Halton police pursuit, SIU investigating

The province’s police watchdog is at the scene of a crash in Hamilton following a chase by Halton police.

Officers were investigating a vehicle in Oakville around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. They followed the vehicle into Burlington and then Hamilton.

They began pursuing the driver when the vehicle fled west on Highway 5 from Highway 6 at Clappison’s Corner in Hamilton. Shortly after, the driver lost control and the vehicle ended up in the ditch.

The driver was taken to hospital but the extent of their injuries is not clear.

Multiple police cruisers were damaged.
