Royal Hamilton Light Infantry members to train at Bayfront Park Tuesday

If you see soldiers with weapons near Hamilton’s Bayfront Park tomorrow, do not be alarmed.

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) says Royal Hamilton Light Infantry members are expected to train in that area on Tuesday evening.

In a public service announcement, CAF said soldiers will be marching with unloaded weapons and full equipment as well as practicing tactical manoevers.

“No ammunition of any kind will be present,” CAF said.

“This important training will support the unit’s ability to mobilize soldiers in short distances with all the equipment required to sustain themselves over long periods of time, while focusing on teamwork and fitness.”

The training keeps soldiers and units ready to respond to missions across Canada and the world, according to the announcement.

Bayfront Park will remain open during the training between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

“Members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles, and are thanked in advance for their understanding and cooperation,” CAF said.
