A Hamilton architectural firm will redesign the main branch of the county of Brant public library.

DPAI will be working with Shoalts and Zaback Architects Limited to redevelop the site in Paris.

DPAI is an architecture, interiors and urban design studio based in Hamilton known for redesigning the Hamilton Farmer’s Market and public library.

The new Main Branch Library plans to make use of the Bawcutt Centre and former Paris Old Town Hall.

The architects plan to fully restore the building’s gothic revival-style elements and opera hall.

“We are eager to work with DPAI to restore and elevate this National Historic Site and create a community-focused, modern library space for the residents of Brant County,” Library Board Chair, Fred Gladding said.

Community members will be able to share their feedback on the proposed changes later this year as digital concept designs are released.

Construction is set to start next year.
