OPP charge man with second-degree murder in Norfolk County

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 36-year-old man with second-degree murder in Vanessa, Ont. in Norfolk County.

On Wednesday shortly after 9:30 a.m., OPP responded to an altercation between two people at an address on Brantford Road 4. 

Upon arrival, officers located a person with life-threatening injuries who was transported to hospital and pronounced dead.

One person was taken into custody and transported to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Shane Bennett, 36, of Jamaica, was charged with second-degree murder.

Bennett remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Nov. 3.

Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
