Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Jane Clohecy has announced her retirement, effective Dec. 31 after 20 years of dedicated service with the Town of Oakville.
Clohecy’s retirement follows a 45-year career in municipal government. Before joining Oakville in 2006 as commissioner of community development, she had senior planning positions with Halton region and the cities of Markham and Toronto.
The Town of Oakville says since being selected by Town Council as CAO in 2020, Clohecy has played an important role in guiding the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of legislative change, financial and growth pressures.
Town officials say Clohecy will remain focused on key priorities for the organization until the end of the year, leaving the incoming mayor and council to determine the next steps regarding the CAO position and the town’s upcoming leadership needs.
“Serving as CAO carries tremendous responsibility and Jane has approached that responsibility with professionalism and a genuine commitment to our community. We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her every happiness as she begins this next chapter,” Mayor Rob Burton says.
“Together with council, senior leadership and our community partners, we delivered projects, programs and services that will benefit this community for years to come and I look forward to seeing its continued success,” Clohecy says.
