Online voting extended in Burlington due to mailing error

The City of Burlington is extending its online voting period for this year’s municipal election due to a mailing error.

The city says there was an unintended mailing error that resulted in 5,000 Voter Information Letters (VILs) not being delivered to homes in Ward 6.

VILs are required for eligible voters who want to cast their ballot online.

City officials say electors in Ward 6 who have not received their VIL can expect them to arrive to their home by mail on Wednesday.

Other electors who have not received their VIL can call 905-335-7777, ext. 8683 (VOTE) to have their VIL issued directly.

Online voting will remain open until Sunday at 8 p.m., with in-person voting running on Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
