In a historic referendum Monday, voters overwhelmingly chose to remain part of Canada, the country Alberta joined 121 years ago.
Early results show about 76 per cent of Albertans said yes to Confederation.
Meanwhile, 24 per cent said they wanted the province to hold a second binding referendum.
Premier Danielle Smith promised there would be no follow-up referendum during her government’s mandate.
In a post on X, Smith thanked Albertans for taking the time to vote. She also said she’d be addressing the province in a live televised address later tonight.
“Tonight’s results on the defining question of separation mean that Albertans and all Canadians will move forward together with renewed purpose and high ambition,” Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a statement.
