Nearly 15K ballots cast in advance voting in Oakville’s municipal election

Advance voting in Oakville’s municipal election ended on Sunday, with 14,787 ballots cast during ten days of advance voting.

The Town of Oakville says its eligible voter population has continued to grow since the previous municipal election.

The town says advance voting remained a popular option with 8.35 per cent of Oakville’s electoral population casting their ballot before election day.

This year, Oakville added an extra day of advance voting and again offered in-person voting over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The town says this provided voters with convenience and flexibility, including post-secondary students who were home for the holiday.

Eligible voters who have not yet voted can cast their ballot at one of 40 locations that are open on Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
