Eligible voters in Burlington can cast their vote online beginning on Wednesday for the Oct. 26 municipal election.
Online voting starts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and closes at 8 p.m. on Oct. 23. But this method of voting is not offered in every municipality across Ontario.
“I’m voting the old-fashioned way, pencil and paper at the polling station,” a Burlington resident told CHCH News.
He said he would consider online voting if he was unable to vote on the day of the election.
The City of Burlington and towns of Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham have both internet and paper ballot voting options for the 2026 municipal election.
However, the City of Hamilton only allows residents to vote by paper ballot.
Some municipalities in Ontario even offer voting by phone.

Burlington’s last municipal election in 2022, had over 142,000 eligible voters and almost 28 per cent of those voted.
Close to 15,000 of those who participated had voted online.
To be eligible to vote online, residents have to be on the voter’s list which is confirmed by a Voter Information Letter.
That letter will have a resident’s voter registration number and instructions for the online voting process.
Residents will also have to complete a verification process to receive a voting pin number.
