According to Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, Prime Minister Mark Carney has asked provinces to put U.S. alcohol back on shelves.

The ask comes as Canada works to finalize a trade deal with the U.S.

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced there would be a three-day pause on 50 per cent tariffs that were set to hit a variety of Canadian goods Wednesday.

Canada and the U.S. are still working to finalize the language of the deal, but officials from both countries at the table say they’ve made positive progress.

Carney says the deal, as it stands, builds on Canada’s existing trade advantages with the U.S.

U.S. booze was pulled off Canadian shelves last year after Trump imposed tariffs. Besides Saskatchewan and Alberta, the bans remain in place across the country.
