Police charge 18-year-old in armed Burlington home invasion

Halton police have charged a man in connection with an April home invasion in Burlington.

On April 26 at around 2:40 a.m., four suspects broke into a home in the southwest Aldershot neighbourhood.

Officers say the suspects smashed a first-floor window to get inside the home.

Police say the residents were asleep at the time and were awoken by the sound of breaking glass.

Investigators say the suspects were armed with a firearm and a knife. The suspects confronted the residents in their bedrooms, making demands for valuables.

Detectives say the residents handed over several pieces of jewelry before the suspects fled in a stolen vehicle.

Following an investigation in collaboration with York Regional Police, one of the suspects was identified as Manav Kotak,18, of Kitchener.

On June 25, Kotak was arrested and has since been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm and disguise with intent.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and arrest the outstanding suspects.
