Suspect wanted after man stabbed at Hamilton’s West Harbour GO

Police are searching for a male suspect after an altercation left one man with a stab wound at West Harbour GO Station in Hamilton.

On Thursday at around 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at the GO station, located at 353 James Street North.

Officers say initial reports indicated that a man had been involved in a physical altercation and was bleeding.

Police located the victim, a 46-year-old man from Beaverton, Ont. near the eastern shore of Lake Simcoe. He was transported to hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

Investigators say the altercation began after an unknown man started going through the victim’s belongings and ignored repeated requests to leave.

Detectives say the suspect then assaulted the victim while armed with an edged weapon, causing the victim’s injury before fleeing the area.

Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned man, who is around 30 years old, is about five-foot-nine tall and has a balding hairline with a dark beard.

The accused was last seen wearing a green tank top, light-coloured shorts, dark sunglasses and white Puma-brand shoes.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that may assist with the investigation to contact the on-duty Division 10 staff sergeant at 905-546-4725.
