One person injured in Burlington residential structure fire

Burlington fire crews are on scene at a residential structure fire near New Street that has injured one person.

The City of Burlington says that the blaze started in the basement of a home on Tamarac Drive shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday.

Two people were reported to have been inside at the time of the fire.

Twenty-one firefighters and eight emergency vehicles responded to the incident.

The suspected cause of the fire is electrical failure, with damages currently estimated at $500,000.

The provincial Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate.
